Digital Citizenship Training in Braga: A Week of Learning, Collaboration, and Inspiration

This November, we successfully completed the Training on Digital Citizenship in Braga, one of the key activities of our project designed to empower young people and the youth workers who support them. The five-day training brought together young people and youth workers from Portugal, Greece, Serbia, and Croatia, creating a vibrant learning environment full of exchange, collaboration, and creativity.

Throughout the week, young people and youth workers engaged in hands-on workshops, interactive activities, and team challenges that strengthened their ability to navigate and shape the digital world responsibly. The sessions focused on equipping young people to use online platforms safely and confidently, building critical thinking skills to identify misinformation, and understanding how to address online risks such as cyberbullying and harmful content. Participants also explored ways to foster inclusive, respectful, and empowering online communities where young people can feel safe and heard.

One of the most exciting elements of the training was the opportunity to collaborate on the early development of an innovative digital educational game that will be created in the next phase of the project. This collaborative process brought together ideas, perspectives, and creativity from all four countries, laying strong foundations for a tool that will support youth engagement in digital citizenship.

Innovation Hive contributed actively throughout the sessions, discussions, and team activities. Our team brought perspectives on digital education, inclusivity, and youth engagement, and returned home inspired to integrate these insights into actions.

Overall, the Training on Digital Citizenship in Braga enriched participants’ skills and confidence while strengthening the capacity of youth workers across Europe. It also set the stage for new initiatives and more inclusive practices that will help young people engage with the digital world in meaningful, critical, and empowered ways.

Stay tuned for the next steps of the project as we continue shaping tools that support young people’s digital futures.
