Pathway to Digital Citizenship Education: Empowering Youth for the Digital Age

In today’s interconnected world, the ability to navigate the digital landscape responsibly is more crucial than ever. The Pathway to Digital Citizenship Education project seeks to empower youth workers with the knowledge, tools, and strategies needed to support young people in becoming responsible, active, and informed digital citizens.

At its core, the project focuses on equipping youth workers with key competencies in digital literacy, online activism, civic engagement, and countering online hate and discrimination. By strengthening these skills, the initiative not only fosters safer online participation but also promotes inclusive and democratic digital spaces where all young people, particularly those with fewer opportunities, can thrive.

To achieve its mission, the project will deliver three main outputs:

  • A Training Kit on Digital Citizenship Education, offering practical resources for youth workers to integrate digital citizenship into their daily practice.
  • A Training Course for Youth Workers, providing hands-on learning opportunities and capacity building.
  • An Educational Game on Digital Citizenship, an innovative, interactive tool designed to engage young people in learning about online responsibility in a fun and meaningful way.

The project brings together a strong partnership of organizations from Serbia, Croatia, Portugal, and Greece, fostering transnational collaboration and knowledge exchange. Through this cooperation, the initiative will enhance the quality and inclusiveness of youth work practices across Europe.

As a key partner, Innovation Hive leads the development of the Digital Citizenship Education Game (Work Package 4). Building on its expertise in social innovation and digital education, Innovation Hive is responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and developing an engaging online game that makes learning about digital citizenship accessible, inclusive, and enjoyable for young people. Beyond this role, Innovation Hive actively contributes to the creation of the training kit, participates in the training course, and supports dissemination activities. Notably, Greece will also host the project’s final evaluation meeting, led by Innovation Hive, to reflect on achievements and explore future collaborations.

The Pathway to Digital Citizenship Education project will leave a lasting mark on youth work by equipping professionals with innovative tools and approaches to foster digital literacy and civic engagement. By empowering young people to use the digital world safely and responsibly, it contributes to shaping a more informed, engaged, and resilient generation of European citizens.
