Empowering Workshops – Promoting Equality and Independence

Across Europe, many young people, including mothers, caregivers, and individuals with disabilities, find themselves outside of education, employment, or training. These NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) often face barriers to re-entering the labour market, such as limited support, discrimination, or lack of confidence. The Educate for Independence (ED4IND) project seeks to empower these individuals by strengthening their autonomy, promoting inclusion, and helping them recognise their potential through a series of Empowerment Workshops implemented in all partner countries.

On November 3rd, Innovation Hive participated in the 16th Panhellenic Celebration of Breastfeeding and Motherhood, organised by the Panhellenic Network of Volunteer Groups for Breastfeeding and Motherhood Support. The event took place at the Central Square of Larissa, bringing together families and professionals, including doctors, health experts, and educators, who shared valuable insights on supporting mothers and promoting maternal well-being.

As part of this initiative, and in line with our ongoing commitment to inclusion and empowerment, Innovation Hive voluntarily joined the event to support this meaningful cause. Our team led a workshop on gender equality and workplace reintegration, focusing on the challenges faced by new mothers returning to work after maternity leave and the importance of fair and inclusive employment practices.

This action was implemented within the framework of the Educate for Independence (ED4IND) project, which aims to empower NEETs (young people not in education, employment, or training) with mild intellectual impairments by fostering independence, confidence, and social inclusion through dedicated Empowerment Workshops.

To further raise awareness, Innovation Hive created a flyer with practical tips for women re-entering the labour market, providing useful advice on navigating job interviews and addressing potential bias in recruitment. In parallel, our team produced a satirical awareness video illustrating real examples of discriminatory interview questions often directed at women, a creative tool to encourage reflection on gender bias and workplace equality.

Building on the success of this action, Innovation Hive will continue the implementation of the ED4IND Empowerment Workshops later in November, in collaboration with ΚΔΑΠ ΠΡΟΣΒΑΣΙΣ. This upcoming workshop will focus on empowering people with disabilities to become more autonomous, through interactive exercises and hands-on activities designed to strengthen self-confidence, communication, and independence.

Through these initiatives, Innovation Hive actively supports the objectives of ED4IND, promoting empowerment, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all, and contributing to a more accessible and inclusive society across Europe.
