The world is changing at a staggering speed, new technologies are evolving rapidly. In order to face change, one needs to be equipped with different skills. Digital is not a new sector, but a new way of doing things that contaminates all sectors and all professions, accordingly there are new opportunities for providing information to people with disabilities, allowing them better integration in daily lives.

Only a few years ago, combining words such as cultural heritage and digital innovation seemed like a gamble, a leap into a fascinating but still too distant future. Instead, that future is already now, and indeed it also quickly becomes past. This is because technological progress runs incredibly fast, fueling an increasingly pervasive digital revolution, which is causing profound and sudden changes in all sectors of our daily life, with a significant impact also in the field of cultural heritage. Today tools advanced technologies offer extraordinary opportunities in terms of the protection and enhancement of cultural heritage, and in terms of accessibility.

On the other hand, the possible fields of application of digital to cultural heritage are enormous and the scenarios are constantly evolving. Technologies such as augmented and virtual reality offer the opportunity to explore environments and places of the past, even lost, with immersive 360-degree experiences, in animated spaces. 3D reconstruction allows new forms of use, also aimed at the blind and partially sighted.

The project “ARTWIN” aims to provide new digital and accessibility skills (artificial intelligence, algorithms, immersive technologies, 3D printing, vocal search/vocal systems, augmented and Virtual Reality, multisensory and tactile paths, development of individual skills to understand the world of disability) for the people related to culture and involved in adopting cultural services for disabled people

The ARTWIN project supports this process of relating to cultural heritage through new multisensory ways, promoting more inclusive paths in which there are no special needs, but simply culture for everyone. The mission of our project which aims to direct knowledge and technology towards culture in order to make it accessible to all will ensure that the entire partnership will come into contact with our indirect beneficiaries, disabled people and that it too will benefit from the results of our project. It will allow to understand how to rethink and to diversify the cultural offer with a new vision, extremely attentive to new needs, and to the opportunities and demands generated by this important moment of transformation; knowing, considering, and reconciling the different needs of the plurality of people, with a view to inclusion and accessibility.

Our Role

Innovation Hive will be participating in all project results and dissemination activities. Also, Innovation hive will lead the Project Result 3 for the development of the ARTWIN platform.
