Augmented Science
The Augmented Science project aims to transform science education by leveraging Augmented Reality (AR) technology to replicate the traditional lab experience on students’ tablets and computers, addressing the challenges of face-to-face education. It seeks to design an AR-based learning environment to support both students’ active science learning and science teachers’ teaching processes, ultimately enhancing students’ understanding of science concepts. Through the development and implementation of AR-enriched science content, experiments, and supplementary materials, along with a web-based active learning system for EU schools, the project aims to facilitate effective technology integration in science education and serve as a best practice example for stakeholders across Europe.
Impact
The Augmented Science project is poised to generate significant impact across various stakeholders, including public institutions, colleges, schools, and private organizations. Through applications leveraging Augmented Reality (AR) accessible via WALS, stakeholders such as curriculum makers, teachers, and students will benefit from enhanced educational experiences. Collaborative efforts with national education directorates will amplify the project’s reach, particularly in teacher digital readiness. The project’s outputs, including an e-book and AR-based simulations, promise to enrich teaching practices and boost students’ academic success by providing engaging learning opportunities. By making project results available through WALS, stakeholders can access and implement innovative practices, fostering cross-country and cross-cultural collaborations to further advance science education.
