HASHT-AG

From Heritage to Hashtag: Youth, AI and Cultural Expression (HASHT-AG) was designed to bring together young people and youth workers from Europe and the Southern Mediterranean to explore how digital tools and AI can be used to tell cultural stories. The project would create opportunities for participants to connect, share ideas, and create content that reflects who they are and where they come from. Youth from Italy, Spain, Greece, Jordan, Egypt, and Lebanon would take part in a series of virtual exchanges and co-creation labs. Using accessible tools like ChatGPT, Canva, and simple image generators, they would work in small groups to create videos, memes,
remixed stories, and other pieces of digital expression. These creations would be shared in public galleries on a multilingual platform, which partners have committed to maintaining for five years beyond the project’s end. To support this, the project includes training for youth workers, onboarding for participants, and a simple reflection tool called “My Learning Path,” which would link to Youthpass. Final exhibitions, community events, and ongoing social media campaigns would help keep the conversation going beyond the exchange sessions themselves. HASHT-AG would support young people in building digital confidence, learning to work across cultures, and gaining experience with creative technologies, all through accessible, low-barrier formats. It would also offer a practical model for
organisations interested in combining digital storytelling with non-formal learning and international collaboration.

Impact

The project creates meaningful opportunities for young people and youth workers to connect across regions, explore cultural identity, and engage critically with digital technologies. Through virtual exchanges and creative co-creation labs, participants develop digital, intercultural, and reflective skills while producing youth-led content that gives visibility to personal and local stories. In the short term, the project supports confidence, creativity, and dialogue; in the longer term, it contributes to more inclusive approaches to youth participation, where young people are recognised as active contributors rather than passive recipients. By sharing digital outputs through exhibitions, online platforms, and community events, the project extends its impact beyond direct participants, fostering dialogue at community level and leaving behind open tools and methods that can continue to be used well after the project ends.

Our Role

Innovation Hive plays an active role in the core implementation of the project, particularly within WP4: Virtual Exchanges and Co-Creation Labs. Together with JOVESOLIDES, we co-coordinate the exchange phase, supporting the design and delivery of live virtual sessions, small-group collaborations, and creative labs that bring young people from EU and Southern Mediterranean countries together. We support youth participation and inclusion, facilitate collaborative digital storytelling processes, and contribute to the use of accessible AI tools for cultural exploration and expression. Through this role, we help ensure that co-creation, reflection, and intercultural dialogue remain at the heart of the project, leading to meaningful youth-led outputs showcased through digital exhibitions and the project platform.
