RE-START

Circular economy in the business sector strives to reduce waste and resource use through strategies that focus on prolonging product lifecycles, enhancing recycling, and adopting sustainable practices to create a more ecologically and economically viable model.

RE-START project consists of the transition to a sustainable economic system as an indispensable part of the new EU industrial strategy. It encourages and guides students in HEIs to develop a circular start-up or transform their business idea into a circular one following the principles of circular economy which characterize them as business models based on implementing at least one of the Circular Economy (CE) strategies: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Recover and Regenerate.

RE-START moves towards developing a circular start-up training programme that enhances the entrepreneurial mindset considering circular economy principles and competences of HEIs students, provides them with real-life examples of successful circular entrepreneurs, and encourages them to support and commercialize their circular start-up.

PROJECT RESULTS

– PR1: Development of the Circular Business Plan Toolkit
– PR2: Development of the e-training Programme
– PR3: Preparation of a Guidebook for Trainers and Academics
– PR4: Industry Cooperations

Impact

The impact of the RE-START project can be multifaceted and highly positive. Such targeted educational programs equip students, faculty, and staff with the knowledge and skills to understand and implement circular economy principles, leading to a more sustainable HE environment.

They encourage innovation, entrepreneurship, and critical thinking, fostering the development of sustainable business models. Additionally, these programs create a culture of environmental responsibility, inspiring graduates to carry these principles into their careers, thus influencing the broader business landscape towards greater sustainability and resource efficiency.

Overall, the impact the RE-START project extends beyond higher education institutions, promoting circular business practices in various industries and contributing to a more sustainable future.

Our Role

Innovation Hive shall provide valuable contributions on the preparation of the RE-START Toolkit and on the quest of sustainable business ideas. We will also provide input to the development of the RE-START training materials, allocated to the topic of ‘The regenerative business model’. Significant feedback to the digital tools, as well training materials, will be provided through the piloting activities to be conducted in Greece.
Lastly, Innovation Hive, as the project’s dissemination leader, is responsible for the promotion of the project and its goals, the publication of the reached milestones, the preparation of all the necessary project documentation, and most importantly, to maximize the project’s impact through making it available to its target groups.
