ReFashion

The fashion and textiles industry is making significant efforts to embrace sustainability by using eco-friendly materials, reducing waste, and ensuring ethical labor practices. This shift includes recycling materials, creating durable products, and emphasizing supply chain transparency. As consumer awareness of environmental and social issues increases, the industry is increasingly focused on minimizing its ecological impact and improving social responsibility.

The core objective of the ReFashion project centers on the development of a novel Vocational Educational Course and a corresponding Professional Skill/Competency profile, in alignment with ECVET standards. This course is designed to enable the assessment, identification, and application of sustainable solutions, with a particular emphasis on formulating comprehensive sustainability strategies that encompass the use of more environmentally friendly raw materials, sustainable production methods, eco-design principles for textiles, the enhancement of product longevity and life cycles, the facilitation of end-of-life management for textile products, and the implementation of circular practices within the fashion and textile industry. The educational program within ReFashion is custom-tailored to meet the specific requirements of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by integrating innovative digital practices. Concurrently, the ReFashion Consumer Guide, easily accessible with a single click, empowers consumers to access accurate information and make informed choices to transform their consumption habits and preferences.

Impact

The project’s primary objective is to assist small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and consumers in navigating the anticipated legal and market challenges within the fashion and textiles industry by enhancing their knowledge and capacity through education and awareness initiatives. The expected impacts on the project’s participants, including VET trainers and learners, are numerous. They include the establishment of new interdisciplinary competence frameworks that enable the application of Sustainable Fashion and Textiles (SF&T) concepts in SMEs, NGOs, industry clusters, and associations, specifically in the role of a ReFashion Expert. VET teachers and trainers will benefit from improved knowledge, skills, and competences in SF&T, along with access to free training resources offered through the ReFashion educational platform and consumer guide. The project aims to enhance employability, particularly in “green jobs,” and the ability to develop sustainable manufacturing processes and products in SMEs. It also seeks to create a qualification and certification framework for the ReFashion course, offering the flexibility to adapt the innovative course according to the specific needs of each participating country. The project promotes an innovative teaching approach that encourages the reuse and sharing of learning resources and fosters a collaborative outlook. Furthermore, participants, especially VET learners, are expected to achieve an increased level of digital competences through their engagement in the project.

Our Role

During this project, Innovation Hive will be coordinating and developing the ReFashion ICT solutions, e.g., the project website, a section dedicated to consumers’ guidance, and an online training platform.
Also, Innovation Hive is actively contributing to quality monitoring and reporting. When it comes to project results, Innovation Hive will be providing valuable input to the development of the ReFashion Expert Educational Program, to the development and dissemination of the ReFashion Guide (PR4), and will be organizing a course testing in Larissa (PR3).
