TIPS

The Teaching Interactive Procedure (TIP) is a structured and evidence-based approach used to improve communication and social skills in children with autism. TIP breaks down complex skills into manageable steps, offers clear instructions, and provides positive reinforcement for desired behaviors. This tailored approach enhances the children’s ability to interact effectively with others, ultimately improving their developmental outcomes and overall quality of life.

The primary objective of the “TIPS” project is the development of pioneering educational resources designed for adult educational trainers and parents/caregivers of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). These resources are intended to assist children in acquiring vital life skills through the application of Teaching Interactive Procedure (TIP) and two distinct digital tools, an interactive digital game in the form of ‘snakes and ladders’ with embedded scenarios that mirror real-life situations, and a series of comic strips explaining everyday situations. The project seeks to equip trainers with comprehensive theoretical and practical knowledge concerning autism, enabling them to adeptly formulate and execute educational activities for parents.

PROJECT RESULTS

  • PR1: Social Skills Curriculum
  • PR2: Digital Game for Social Skills
  • PR3: Interactive Comics for children with ASD

PR4: E-learning platform

Impact

The “TIPS” project focuses on creating innovative educational tools for adult educational trainers and parents of children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Its goal is to assist children in learning essential life skills through Teaching Interactive Procedure (TIP) and two digital tools.

Adult educators will benefit by gaining expertise in Gamified Based Learning, new teaching procedures, and enhanced digital skills.

Parents will acquire skills in teaching social skills to their children with ASD through digital means, improving family well-being.

Children with ASD will gain new social and communication skills, improved play and digital skills, and enhance their social inclusion.

Ultimately, the project aims to have a great holistic impact on both educators and families, benefiting children with ASD.

Our Role

Innovation Hive plays an important role to the identification of the skills that educators and parents need for educating their children with ASD, as well as to the content of the curriculum to be integrated in the e-platform.
We are leading the development of the TIPS digital game, an interactive scenarios game in the form of ‘snakes and ladders’, aiming to enhance the social skills of children with autism by providing real-life scenarios, and valuable feedback according to the user’s answers.
