YOUTHMED2
YOUTHMED2 addresses the Mediterranean’s interconnected challenges of climate change, environmental degradation, limited green employment pathways and insufficient youth participation in decision-making. The project establishes a structured, cross-border framework that empowers young people to become active contributors to sustainability governance, green innovation and inclusive local development. Through 14 TransLabs across six countries, it brings together youth organisations, municipalities and other stakeholders to co-design and implement territorial sustainability solutions.
Impact
YOUTHMED2 aims to institutionalise young people’s participation in Mediterranean sustainability governance while strengthening green skills and employment prospects. Key expected achievements include 14 operational TransLabs in six countries, 84 trained youth leaders, 300+ young people trained in green careers and civic engagement, three SmartSet modules, a Mediterranean Youth Policy Framework, 8 youth-led advocacy campaigns, 3 transnational policy forums, and 14 local plus 1 transnational governance agreement. These outputs support durable cross-border cooperation, stronger municipal decision-making and wider replication of youth-led green transition solutions.
Our Role
Innovation Hive leads WP3 – TransLabNet, TransLabs & SmartSet Foundations, coordinating the establishment of the transnational TransLabNet network, the development and operationalisation of TransLabs, and the deployment of the SmartSet-L1 digital platform. It also supports youth organisations through capacity-building, leadership training and mentoring activities, fostering cross-border collaboration and youth-led sustainability initiatives across the Mediterranean.
