In the framework of the YERAME project, a business ideas competition was held on 20 September 2024, during which innovative proposals that can be implemented in rural areas were presented. The competition aimed to inspire and empower young entrepreneurs, encouraging them to think creatively and develop solutions that can have a positive impact on their communities.
Participants had the unique opportunity to present their ideas as well as their future plans, aiming to attract attention and support for their initiatives. The top two winners identified from the competition will have the opportunity to present their ideas at the final project event in Palermo, Italy, alongside the winners from the partner countries.
The prizes were distributed to the contestants, rewarding the most innovative and pioneering ideas, as follows:
1. BioAnalytiX : BioAnalytiX aims to design and develop a medical artificial intelligence software that can analyse medical images of modern and classical radiology (CT Scan, MRI, Xray), find any lesions, mark them, describe them and produce a fast automated report that clinicians can use to give their opinion.
2. YOGIPs: Yogips are yogurt chips rich in probiotics, prebiotics and powerful antioxidants. They are made from yogurt, honey, oats and strawberry powder. They are a healthy snack of high nutritional value and help in prevention for various intestinal diseases due to probiotics. Finally, in order to strengthen the circular economy, the strawberries used in production will be B-sorted.
3. WHEAT IT :The creation of sustainable products that incorporate the principles of the circular economy, offering healthy wheat flakes and ecological packaging that protects the environment.Notably, all participants had previously participated in the Youth Entrepreneurship Training, which provided them with important skills for their entrepreneurial pursuits. Following the competition, they will continue their journey with a mentoring programme designed to provide ongoing support and guidance.
This competition not only highlighted the creativity and determination of the young entrepreneurs, but also emphasised the importance of innovation in the development of rural areas. By fostering such initiatives, we can inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs to create solutions that have an impact in their communities and beyond.
