After more than two years of collaboration, innovation, and community engagement, the European project PeakED – Environmental Involvement and Education for Young Entrepreneurs and Volunteers has officially come to an end.
Implemented by a diverse partnership of organizations, PeakED aimed to empower young people and local communities through environmental education, social entrepreneurship, outdoor learning, and sustainable development initiatives. Throughout its implementation, the project created opportunities for participants to develop new skills, increase their environmental awareness, and actively contribute to the protection of natural and cultural heritage.
A journey of learning and engagement
Over the past 2.5 years, PeakED delivered a wide range of educational and experiential activities designed to inspire positive change at both local and international levels. Through workshops, research activities, training sessions, community initiatives, and outdoor learning experiences, participants gained valuable knowledge and practical tools to address environmental and social challenges.
The project promoted innovative approaches to non-formal education, encouraging participants to learn through experience, collaboration, and direct interaction with their communities and natural environments.
Key achievements across countries
One of the project’s highlights was the establishment of the PeakED Living Lab in Jordan, which served as a collaborative space where stakeholders, young people, and local communities worked together to explore sustainable solutions and innovative practices for environmental protection and cultural heritage preservation.
In parallel, a series of Outdoor Activities and Youth Camps were successfully organized in Greece, Bulgaria, Jordan, and Poland, offering participants unique opportunities to engage with nature, strengthen their environmental consciousness, and develop a deeper understanding of sustainability through hands-on experiences.
These activities encouraged intercultural exchange, community participation, and active citizenship, while fostering a stronger connection between young people and their local environments.
Empowering sustainability ambassadors
At the heart of PeakED was the belief that young people can become powerful agents of change when provided with the right knowledge, skills, and opportunities. Throughout the project, participants were encouraged to take an active role in promoting sustainable practices, protecting cultural heritage, and supporting community development initiatives.
As a result, many young people involved in the project became ambassadors for sustainability within their communities, helping to raise awareness about environmental issues and inspiring others to take action.
A lasting impact
Although the project has officially concluded, its impact will continue through the educational resources, methodologies, partnerships, and experiences developed during its implementation. The knowledge generated, the connections established, and the lessons learned will continue to support youth organizations, educators, social entrepreneurs, and local communities across Europe and neighboring regions.
The PeakED partnership would like to express its sincere gratitude to all participants, stakeholders, trainers, youth workers, and community members who contributed to the project’s success. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and commitment have helped create a lasting legacy that will continue to promote environmental responsibility, cultural heritage preservation, and sustainable development for years to come.
