Eco360 WP2 Successfully Completed: Eco360 Introductory Guide, Training Materials and Lesson Plans

The successful completion of WP2 of the Eco360 – Immersive 360° Video Technology for Sustainability Education project marks an important milestone in the project’s mission to equip educators with innovative tools that make sustainability education more engaging, interactive, and meaningful through the use of immersive 360° video technology.

WP2 focused on developing a comprehensive set of educational resources that bridge the gap between emerging technologies and classroom practice. The materials are designed to support both primary and secondary school teachers in integrating sustainability topics, STEAM education, project-based learning, and immersive media into their everyday teaching.

Three Comprehensive Educational Resources for Teachers

Eco360 consortium developed three major deliverables, providing educators with practical guidance, training materials, and ready-to-use classroom resources:

  • Practical Guide to Teaching Sustainability with 360° Video – Introductory Guide for Educators: It serves as the starting point for educators who wish to explore the educational potential of immersive technologies. This guide offers a practical framework for integrating sustainability education with STEAM subjects through the use of 360° video. It introduces teachers to the fundamentals of immersive video technology, explaining how it works, the equipment and software required, and the pedagogical benefits it offers in the classroom. Beyond the technical aspects, the guide presents innovative teaching approaches, practical classroom integration strategies, and a collection of inspiring best practices gathered from across Europe.
  • From 360° Content to Classroom Projects – Handbook for Teachers, Accompanying the Eco360 MOOC: 360 ° Video Creation and Classroom: To further support teachers in adopting immersive learning, the Eco360 consortium developed the Handbook for Teachers, accompanied by the Eco360 MOOC. This comprehensive resource responds to one of the most common barriers identified by educators: the lack of confidence and technical knowledge needed to use 360° video in teaching. Through five carefully structured learning modules, the handbook and MOOC guide teachers from the basics of immersive media to the design of complete project-based learning experiences. Participants explore the educational value of 360° video, learn practical filming and editing techniques, discover how project-based learning connects with STEM education, and ultimately can develop their own classroom projects that integrate immersive technology into sustainability education.
  • Twelve Project-Based Lesson Plans to Guiding the Creation of 360° Videos: Completing the WP2 outputs, the project has produced a collection of 12 project-based lesson plans designed to help educators implement immersive learning activities across a variety of sustainability topics. These ready-to-use scenarios provide detailed guidance for teachers throughout the entire learning journey, from introducing environmental concepts and facilitating inquiry-based learning to planning, filming, editing, and reflecting on student-created 360° videos. Each lesson plan incorporates project-based learning methodologies, collaborative activities, assessment criteria, reflection exercises, and opportunities for further extension, while remaining flexible enough to be adapted to different educational settings, available equipment, and learner needs.

Together, these three resources provide educators with a complete learning pathway—from understanding the fundamentals of immersive technologies to confidently implementing project-based sustainability activities in their own classrooms. By combining sustainability education, STEAM methodologies, and innovative digital tools, Eco360 supports teachers in creating engaging learning environments where students actively explore real-world environmental challenges, collaborate with their peers, and develop essential 21st-century skills.
