As part of the MEDMAS project, two impactful workshops were organized in Greece under Work Packages 6 and 34, both focusing on empowering young people to critically navigate the digital information landscape.
The first workshop, “How to Distinguish True News from Fake News,” took place in collaboration with Preventis Publishing House and targeted youth through media literacy and critical thinking training. Hosted in an inclusive cultural space dedicated to accessibility, the workshop integrated the MediaMasters educational game into its program. The valuable collaboration with the Municipal Youth Council enhanced the workshop’s outreach and credibility, aligning with its mission to engage youth in civic participation and social change. Together, these efforts created a safe space for meaningful dialogue on misinformation, equipping participants with tools to recognize and resist fake news.
The second workshop, held on June 19 during the Pinios Festival in Larissa under WP34, brought the MediaMasters experience to a broader public audience. Set in the Municipal Youth Council’s pavilion, this interactive event gathered youth, local organizations, and even the Mayor of Larissa, who actively engaged with the educational game. The workshop emphasized experiential learning, allowing participants to develop their media literacy skills in a hands-on way. Once again, the Municipal Youth Council played a pivotal role, not only by supporting the event’s implementation but also by ensuring its connection to real community needs. Through their commitment to youth empowerment and intergenerational dialogue, the Council helped make the workshop a vibrant and inclusive platform for tackling disinformation in today’s media landscape.
