The Impact of SCE-VET Project on Social Circular Economy Learning

In a world increasingly focused on sustainability and social responsibility, the SCE-VET project aims to revolutionise Vocational Education and Training (VET) by integrating the principles of the Social Circular Economy (SCE). In addition, its educational materials equip learners with the skills necessary for the green transition and are expected to have a positive impact on job creation and economic growth.

During the implementation of the project, the partnership conducted extensive research among VET students and businesses across Europe. This comprehensive research sought to identify the needs and essential knowledge, skills and competences required for the transition to a social circular economy. The invaluable insights gained from these surveys formed the basis for the project’s deliverable:

the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC).

The SCE-VET MOOC consists of four carefully designed modules:

  • Circular Economy
  • Social circular economy
  • Social Entrepreneurship
  • On-the-job training skills

The objectives of the MOOC are multiple:

– Firstly, it aims to motivate students to delve deeper into the concepts of SCE and to foster a deeper understanding of its principles.

– Secondly, it provides educators with valuable resources to improve their teaching methods, thereby strengthening the link between education, society and the workforce.

Learning outcomes and assessment criteria:

– are aligned with the overall aim of embedding social circular economy principles in vocational education.

– assess learners on their ability to plan and carry out social circular economy activities, as well as their ability to evaluate their success.

The impact of the MOOC:

A more up to date learning and training material. Engaging examples with information about social circular economy and potentials in different countries, cultures, VET fields and levels as well as strengthening the image of VET education and social enterprises.

One of the key features of the SCE-VET MOOC is its accessibility. It’s a free online resource available to everyone without the need for registration. However, the responsibility for assessment, recognition and validation lies with the educators and teachers who guide the learning process. While the MOOC does not issue certificates, it does offer a wealth of learning opportunities. Educators can seamlessly integrate the modules into their existing courses or supplement their teaching materials with the rich content provided. This flexibility not only enables learners to acquire new skills, but also inspires educators with innovative teaching methods.

In conclusion, the SCE-VET project represents a paradigm shift in vocational education, combining digital learning with traditional teaching methods to empower both learners and educators. The SCE-VET MOOC is a testament to the transformative power of education to drive social and economic change.
