Empowering the Next Generation of Circular Economy Entrepreneurs: The RE-START Project

The circular economy is a new approach to global economic development that aims to create sustainable and efficient cycles of production, use, and recycling of resources. Unlike the traditional linear model of the economy that is based on the disposal of products after use, the circular economy promotes the recycling and reuse of products and materials, thus promoting sustainability and reducing the need for the extraction of new resources. However, new businesses that choose new entrepreneurial models and more innovative approaches play a crucial role in promoting the circular transition.

In this context, the RE-START project aims to promote the circular economy for sustainable businesses through education programs designed for students and recent graduates. These programs will help them develop and present their existing business ideas based on circular economy models. The project provides access to:

  • Development of the Circular Business Plan Toolkit: Which provides a guide that will help students step-by-step to develop and implement circular business models. Through self-assessment tests and the Business Model Canvas, students will have a complete overview of their business idea, in order to evaluate its sustainability.
  • Development of the e-training Programme: Which provides an intensive training for students to develop their entrepreneurial skills and knowledge of the circular economy.
  •  Preparation of a guidebook for trainers and academics: Which provides mentoring, coaching, and resources to help students and recent graduates turn their circular business ideas into viable businesses.

Through these resources, the RE-START project aims to empower higher education students to become leaders in the circular economy and to create new businesses that promote sustainability and efficiency in resource use.
