Between November 2022 and February 2023, CEUTH initiated a dynamic chapter in collaboration with its partners by hosting a transformative Hackathon under the – “Hackathon Inquiry Lab and Youth Policies.” With the primary aim of co-designing youth policies, the collaborative effort brought together diverse stakeholders to select and nurture 100 young participants, ensuring gender equality and representation between the ages of 18 and 26.
To ensure an inclusive event, each partner was entrusted with selecting eight participants, comprising four females and four males, by the critical deadline of October 31, 2022. The selection process extended beyond demographic details, requiring partners to nominate a judge and a mentor for its organizations. A key element in shaping the event’s collaborative nature was the provision of brief bios and email contacts for these essential roles. The participant selection process was thorough. Participants were encouraged to share insights into their educational pursuits, field of study, and relevant social networks. Furthermore, participants were invited to express their motivation, whether they arrived with pre-existing hackathon ideas, and the driving force behind their decision to participate.
Going beyond individual details, CEUTH urged partners to contribute to the overarching goal of shaping impactful youth policies. By September 30, 2022, partners were required to submit their proposals addressing identified needs through desk research and collective expertise. These proposals formed the backbone for discussions during the Hackathon, empowering participants to actively engage in crafting youth policies tailored to the unique challenges faced by the second generation and youth with migration backgrounds.
As the event concluded, CEUTH marked its success in promoting a collaborative, innovative, and inclusive environment. The Hackathon served as a platform for young talents to showcase their skills while simultaneously facilitating the development of youth policies attuned to the diverse experiences and aspirations of the present-day youth. Through this initiative, CEUTH underscored its commitment to shaping a future where the voices of the youth not only find resonance but actively contribute to the formulation of comprehensive and impactful policy frameworks.
