Exploring UglyFruitsNOT! in Krakow: The Essence and Impact of the training

In a vibrant exchange of ideas and exploration, the participants of the UglyFruitsNOT! project converged in the picturesque city of Krakow, Poland, from February 26th to March 1st. This marked a pivotal training activity where educators, experts, and enthusiasts delved into the project’s core for the first time.

The event was not just a meeting; it was an immersive journey into the heart of the project. Participants had the unique opportunity to navigate the intricacies of the UglyFruitsNOT! platform, engaging in fruitful discussions about its content and configuration. The platform, a digital haven for the project, became a focal point for productive conversations that shaped the trajectory of the training.

Guided by local experts, the participants explored Krakow beyond the project’s digital realm. A visit to the Museum of the Bagel provided hands-on experiences, offering practical activities and insights into factories promoting the reduction of food waste. The dynamic agenda included various engaging activities, creating an environment where every participant contributed and benefited.

At its core, the training aimed to empower VET trainers with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to teach sustainable practices regarding “ugly” fruits and vegetables. Workshops were strategically designed to introduce the training program’s value, outline target groups, and explore settings where the program could be effectively implemented. The second stage of the workshops focused on practical training, providing hands-on experience with all project resources.

This training activity was not just a stepping stone; it was a crucial phase in the sustainable establishment of the UglyFruitsNOT! program. As participants return to their respective countries, they carry with them not only certificates of attendance but also a profound understanding of how to integrate this innovative approach to combat food waste into their professional training.

The UglyFruitsNOT! project, with its blend of digital innovation and practical insights, is poised to make a lasting impact. Stay tuned as we continue our journey to redefine perceptions and contribute to a more sustainable future.
